Summary

Clover Garden is a public charter school located in Burlington, North Carolina that serves grades K-12 with a total enrollment of 950 students. As an alternative school, Clover Garden provides a unique educational environment focused on meeting the diverse needs of its student population.

Clover Garden has consistently maintained high four-year graduation rates, ranging from 86.5% to 93.0% over the past three school years, which is a notable strength compared to the state average. The school's academic performance is also competitive, with mathematics, reading, and science proficiency rates that generally meet or exceed state averages across grade levels. Clover Garden's students excel in Math III, with proficiency rates significantly exceeding the state average by over 20 percentage points. Additionally, the school has maintained a relatively low student-teacher ratio, ranging from 17.5 to 19.1 over the past three school years, suggesting a more personalized learning environment.

When compared to nearby schools, The Hawbridge School, another public charter school, also shows strong academic performance, particularly in mathematics and reading. However, Clover Garden's overall test score performance appears to be more consistent across subject areas. In contrast, the SCORE Center and Gateway Education Center, both alternative public schools, have significantly higher percentages of students receiving free or reduced-price lunch, which may contribute to their lower test score performance compared to Clover Garden. Additionally, Alamance Virtual School, a public virtual school, struggles with significantly lower test scores across the board, highlighting the challenges of delivering effective virtual education.

Open Quote Clover Garden is rigorous and they demand excellence. They continue on the 7 point grading scale even though NC has changed to a 10 point grading scale. College prep is an appropriate title for the school. While I don't always agree with the developmentally appropriateness of some of the curriculum, my child is growing at a phenomenal pace and reading well above his grade level. School wide communication could be better. More focus on awards and recognition for younger students would be appreciated. This is a K-12 school, so I look forward to the continuity of not having to transition to different schools for middle/high school. Overall, I highly recommend this school for advanced learners and those able to handle the pace. Close Quote

Open Quote I have twin daughters at this school, in the 5th grade this year. My wife and I love this school and how intuitive they are of the needs of the students. The teachers and staff are great. Christian values and learning focused. We have another daughter starting in kindergarten this year and I look forward to her growing to meet her potential. The school is demanding though and they consider themselves a college prep school, so they push the students very hard. But they make learning very rewarding. I highly recommend this school.
