Summary

PreEminent Charter is an elementary and middle school located in Raleigh, North Carolina, serving 712 students in grades K-8. The school is part of the PreEminent Charter School District, which is ranked 206 out of 242 districts in the state and has a 1-star rating from SchoolDigger.

Despite being in operation for over a decade, PreEminent Charter has consistently underperformed the state average on standardized tests across all grade levels and subject areas. For example, in the 2024-2025 school year, the percentage of students proficient or better in Math ranged from 22.8% to 60.7% across grades 3-8, compared to the state average of 48.7% to 64.1%. The school also struggles to support the academic achievement of various student subgroups, ranking in the bottom 10% of North Carolina elementary schools for Female students and Special Education students.

Interestingly, the nearby schools in the Wake County School District, which serve similar student populations, generally outperform PreEminent Charter on academic measures. For example, Poe Elementary and Fuller Elementary, both magnet schools, have significantly higher proficiency rates in Math, Reading, and Science compared to PreEminent Charter. This suggests that the school may be facing challenges in terms of staffing and resources to support student learning.

Open Quote My daughter currently attends Kindergarten at Preeminent and I must say that I am very pleased with the education that she has received thus far. She comes home telling me about the new things she learns every day. Her teacher is very informative and she communicates with the parents about the lesson plans 2-3 time per week. My child even made honor roll after being moved into an advanced kindergarten class. I am impressed with the parent/ family involvement with volunteering in the class room weekly. My only concern is the drop off process in the morning. Parents only have from 7:45- 8am to drop their child off at the door. After 8am there's no staff outside so you have to walk your child in because there is no one outside to direct traffic and ensure the students are safely directed into class. Close Quote
