As you review the school rankings data, please be aware that some of the information from certain demographics is missing. The reason for this omission is that the data has been redacted from the source data itself due to low population samples in these specific demographic groups.

Redacting data from low population samples is a necessary step to ensure the reliability and accuracy of the results, as small sample sizes may not be representative of the broader population. Additionally, this measure helps protect the privacy of individuals belonging to these demographic groups.

Open Quote This is by far one of the worst schools in Cumberland County. I sadly am writing this review after unbelievable racism that took place against my fifth grade student by the administrative team more pacifically the principal Miss Macado .If your child is caucasian they are treated completely different by the administrative team there’s lack of urgency for education to take place on campus. My 1st grade went almost 2 months without a teacher her daily instruction was being taught by aids this is not ok. I would recommend you request a voluntary transfer if your address places u at the school. Close Quote

Open Quote My daughter is in the Spanish Immersion Program (K) and I must admit that I have been pleasantly surprised by the education she is receiving at HHES. I was skeptical about Cumberland County Schools in general but so far they are delivering. As a military family we had the option to leave the area this coming year but have chosen to stay because of the opportunities at Howard Hall and the professionalism of the principal and the entire Howard Hall Team. Open Quote Has a diverse student population and some of the better teachers have been there for years. But there are lots of new teachers, and many have been coming and going over the last 5 or so years. The newish principle is still getting her bearings. They just added a Spanish Immersion Program (all Spanish all day for those kiddos) which is very exciting and these kids will often bring a schools scores up (hmm, wonder why it was brought to this school?). Because of the diversity, the scores tend to be lower then the two other schools just up the road where there is an almost all white middle class attendance. Over all a good, safe school, but not excellent. Could go a long way in expecting academic improvement and holding the parents to a higher standard. A few (very few) of the oldest teachers are set in their ways and make it very hard if your child doesn't fit what they think a gifted student should be. So be aware if your child has an above average intelligence, but is not a "typical" nerdy kid. You won't get the AG classes! But you will get a typical middle of the road North Carolina education. About Students eligible for discounted/free lunch:

The National School Lunch Program (NSLP) provides low-cost or free meals to students in U.S. public and nonprofit private schools based on household income. Those with incomes below 130% of the poverty line receive free lunch, while those between 130% and 185% qualify for reduced-price lunch. The percentage of students receiving free or reduced-price lunch serves as a marker for poverty, as it reflects the socioeconomic status of families in a given school or district. A higher FRPL rate typically indicates a higher concentration of low-income families, suggesting that the school or district may face additional challenges in providing adequate resources and support for student success.

About Student-Teacher Ratio

Student/teacher ratio is calculated by dividing the total number of students by the total number of full-time equivalent teachers. Please note that a smaller student/teacher ratio does not necessarily translate to smaller class size. In some instances, schools hire teachers part time, and some teachers are hired for specialized instruction with very small class sizes. These and other factors contribute to the student/teacher ratio. Note: For private schools, Student/teacher ratio may not include Pre-Kindergarten.
