Surry County Schools in North Carolina serves four high schools—North Surry High, Surry Central High, East Surry High, and Surry Early College—all serving grades 9–12 within a district ranked 106th out of 246 statewide with a 3-star rating. Its EOC proficiency rates are extraordinary: 95.2% in Biology, 95.3% in English II, 90.7% in Math I, and a perfect 100% in Math III. Remarkably, it achieves this with the lowest per-student spending ($4,884) and a 35.8 student-teacher ratio, likely reflecting its early college structure. East Surry High stands out as the best traditional high school, ranked 238th at the 64th percentile with 3 stars, holding steady for three straight years. East Surry exceeds state averages in English II, Math I, and Math III, and posts the lowest chronic absenteeism rate among traditional schools at 19.9%.

North Surry High and Surry Central High are headed in the wrong direction.
