Ulen-Hitterdal Elementary is a K–6 school serving 144 students in the small town of Ulen, in western Minnesota, part of the Ulen-Hitterdal Public School District. In 2025–2026, it ranked 404th of 869 Minnesota elementary schools — the 54th percentile, or 3 stars — placing it near the middle of the state. That is a clear step up from the mid-2010s, when the school sat in the bottom quartile (26th and 27th percentile, 1 star), and from 2022–2023 (33rd percentile).

Reading is the school's standout strength. All-grade reading proficiency was 56.3%, above both the district (45.0%) and the state (48.6%). Among nearby schools, only Hawley Elementary (68.4%) scored higher, and Ulen-Hitterdal beat Norman County East Elementary (54.0%), Spring Prairie Elementary (53.8%), Lake Park Audubon Elementary (50.6%) and Ada-Borup-West Elementary (49.3%).
