Summary

Crestview Elementary is a public elementary school located in Cottage Grove, Minnesota, serving grades PK-5 with a total enrollment of 418 students. The school is part of the South Washington County Schools district, which is ranked 135 out of 446 districts in Minnesota and is rated 4 stars out of 5 by SchoolDigger.

Crestview Elementary has consistently ranked in the bottom half of Minnesota elementary schools, with a ranking between 522 and 641 out of 845-872 schools over the past 5 school years. The school's performance on MCA-III assessments is generally below the district and state averages in both math and reading across all grade levels. For example, in the 2024-2025 school year, Crestview's proficiency rates were 36.32% in math and 38.5% in reading, compared to 51.84% and 54.46% for the district, and 45.21% and 49.59% for the state. However, the school performs better for its African American and Hispanic student subgroups, ranking in the top half or top third of Minnesota schools in recent years.

Crestview Elementary has a relatively high percentage of students eligible for free or reduced-price lunch, ranging from 44% to 53.83% over the past 3 school years, which is higher than the district average. This may indicate that the school faces additional challenges related to supporting students from low-income families. Additionally, several nearby schools in the South Washington County Schools district, such as Cottage Grove Elementary and Grey Cloud Elementary, have significantly higher academic performance and statewide rankings compared to Crestview Elementary, suggesting that students in the Crestview attendance area may have access to higher-performing educational options within the same district.
