Big Woods Elementary is a grades 1–4 school in Saint Michael, Minnesota, serving 656 students as the largest of the three grade 1–4 elementaries in the St. Michael-Albertville Schools district, which itself ranks 28th of 458 Minnesota districts; the district's PK–K feeder, Albertville Primary, sits 1.8 miles away.

Results are still strong in absolute terms. In 2025–2026, 67.7% of students met standards in math and 60.3% in reading — far above the state (44.9% math, 48.6% reading). Math is 9.5 points above the district average, but reading is only 0.4 points above it, so the school's historic reading edge has essentially disappeared.
