St. Francis Middle is a 6th- through 8th-grade school in Saint Francis, Minnesota — a community roughly 40 miles north of the Twin Cities — serving 890 students as part of St. Francis Area Schools.

St. Francis Middle has been on a strong recovery arc. After falling to the 26th percentile (1 star) in 2022-23, it climbed to the 65th percentile (3 stars) in 2025-26 — one of the biggest multi-year turnarounds in its comparison group, though still short of its 2015-2019 peak of 73rd-80th percentile. Reading is solidly at state level (50.3% proficient vs. 48.6% statewide), and 8th-grade science is an underrated strength: at 20.3%, it beats the state's 8th-grade rate of 16.7% by 3.6 points. (Science is tested only in grades 5 and 8, so the school's "all grades" science figure is really just 8th grade.) Math is the clear weak spot at 35.0%, nearly 10 points below the state's 44.9%, and the gap is concentrated in 6th and 7th grade (−9.7 and −7.4 points) while 8th graders perform at state parity.
