Statewide, it ranks 136th of 473 high schools, placing it in the 71st percentile with 4 stars — a recovery from the 56th percentile in 2021–22, though still below its earlier high of 82nd percentile in 2017–18.

Completion outcomes are a clear strength. The 2024–25 graduation rate was 90.9% (state: 84.9%) and the dropout rate just 0.8% (state: 4.2%). Science stands out academically: 45.6% of students were proficient in 2025–26, well above the state's 25.5% and higher than Delano High School (31.5%), Orono Senior High (35.6%), and Buffalo Senior High (37.6%). Rockford is also the smallest of these comprehensive peers at 479 students, and its 16.5 student–teacher ratio is more favorable than all three.

Math and reading are the main challenges. All-grades math proficiency was 36.8% versus the state's 44.9%, and reading was 40.2% versus 48.6% — both below Delano, Orono, and Buffalo. Reading also dropped sharply from 59.09% to 40.2% year over year, an area worth watching. Grade-specific results are closer: 11th-grade math (36.8%) is slightly above the state's 35.3%, and 10th-grade reading (40.2%) is near the state's 42.5%. Low-income students improved to the 70th percentile, close to the school's overall mark, while special education (47th) and Hispanic students (21st) declined from earlier years.
