Richfield Dual Language School is a Spanish-English dual-language, PK–5 elementary school with 529 students at 7001 Elliot Ave S in Richfield, Minnesota, a first-ring Minneapolis suburb, and it is one of three elementaries in the Richfield Public School District.

In 2025–2026, the school’s all-grade MCA proficiency was 42.3% in math, 40.5% in reading, and 12.3% in science. That puts it above its district in math and reading—the district averaged 32.4% and 39.2%—but below Minnesota’s 44.9% and 48.6%. Science is the exception: the school trails both its district (15.1%) and the state (25.5%). Among Richfield’s three public elementaries, RDLS posts the strongest math and reading results, ahead of Richfield Stem School (32.9% math, 37.8% reading) and Centennial Elementary (31.3%, 29.4%), though Richfield STEM’s science score (24.5%) is double RDLS’s. RDLS also beats nearby charters such as Horizon Science Academy Twin Cities, Partnership Academy Inc., SciTech Academy Charter School, and Success Academy Bloomington Elementary in math and reading. However, more affluent Minneapolis schools like Windom Elementary (61.2% math, 67.0% reading) and Seven Hills - Richfield Elementary (50.3%, 54.0%) remain clearly ahead.

Parents should know the school has improved: its statewide rank rose from the 17th percentile in 2021–2022 to the 31st–36th percentile range recently, even as its free/reduced-lunch rate fell and its student–teacher ratio rose to 14.6. Grade-level results are uneven—4th grade is a strength (44.7% math, 44.6% reading), 3rd grade reading is the weakest spot (30.9%), and 5th grade science is very low (12.3%). The biggest concern is a persistent internal gap: English learners and low-income students rank near the bottom 15% of schools statewide across three years, even as the school overall has improved. Science has also declined over four years, though it is based on one 5th-grade cohort and state scores dropped at the same time.

Struggling to serve the large minority population in the school. With more than 60% minority enrollment, the school is ill-prepared to meet the challenges of its population base.
