The slide has been steady: 50th percentile in 2023–2024, 42nd in 2024–2025, and 26th in 2025–2026.

Compared with nearby PK–6 schools, Moose Lake is the lowest-ranked and lowest-performing. It is the only 1-star school in the group, while East Central Elementary, Cromwell-Wright Elementary, Finlayson Elementary, Willow River Elementary, and Barnum Elementary range from the 33rd to the 60th percentile. Math is weak overall, with fifth grade lowest at 25.6% and sixth grade (38.1%) near the state. Subgroup rankings show broad recent declines, including for low-income and special education students. On the positive side, free/reduced lunch rates have fallen, the student–teacher ratio has improved, and fourth-grade math and sixth-grade results are relative bright spots.
