Cromwell, Minnesota is served by Cromwell-Wright Public Schools, a two-school district covering grades PK–12 with a combined enrollment of about 300 students: Cromwell-Wright Elementary (PK–6, 163 students) and Cromwell-Wright Secondary (7–12, 137 students). There is no standalone middle school, so the secondary building serves grades 7 and 8 alongside the high school grades.
The two schools perform very differently. The elementary school is the academic standout, with 2025–2026 all-grades math proficiency of 53.5% and reading of 52.3%, both above the district (45.8% math, 48.9% reading) and the state (44.9% math, 48.6% reading). Second, grade-level scores swing widely because cohorts are small; 4th-grade math hit 94.1% while 6th-grade math was 35.5%. Overall, the district ranks 193 of 458, the 58th percentile with 3 stars.
