John Clark Elementary is a small K–5 school in Rockville, MN (415 W Broadway), serving 129 students as part of the Rocori Public School District, in a rural area a few miles west of St. Cloud.

John Clark is the strongest-performing school in its comparison group of ten nearby schools, which includes two sister Rocori elementaries — Cold Spring Elementary and Richmond Elementary — plus seven St. Cloud–area schools. It ranks at the 63rd percentile statewide for 2025–26 (3 stars), up from a low of 34th percentile in 2022–23, a 29-point climb in three years. About 24% of students qualify for free/reduced lunch, the lowest rate in the group, and the 13.5 student–teacher ratio is mid-pack. Its standout strength is math: 62% proficiency, best in the group and 17 points above the state, with four straight years of improvement. Science (30.4%) is also the highest of the ten schools and the only figure among nearby schools above the state average. Reading is the exception — at 46.5%, it is essentially even with the district, slightly below the state, and Richmond (51.4%) and Cold Spring (47.3%) match or beat it. Grade-level results are uneven: 5th grade shines in every subject, while 4th-grade reading (30.4%) is the weakest single figure, far below Richmond's 69.6% for the same grade and year. Smaller schools naturally see bigger year-to-year swings, so all-grade figures are the more dependable guide.

Two things are worth watching. Reading has slipped for two years and is the main limit on the school's overall ranking, since reading carries real weight in composite scores. There is also a wide gap in school effectiveness between girls (74th percentile, 4 stars) and boys (43rd percentile, 2 stars) in 2025–26, compared with only a 2-point spread two years earlier. Overall, John Clark produces strong results and is clearly on an upward path, with math and science as its competitive advantages.
