Compared with nearby schools, Cannon Falls Secondary is a regional standout. Northfield Senior High is the closest academic peer, ranking 36th of 473 (92nd percentile) in 2025–2026, but it serves only grades 9–12, while the school includes grades 6–12. In tested high school grades, the school beats Northfield Senior High in 11th-grade math (57.6% vs. 52.8%), matches it in End-of-Course science (46.2% each), and trails slightly in 10th-grade reading (57.7% vs. 59.3%). It is far ahead of Goodhue Secondary in math and reading and far ahead of Randolph Secondary in all areas.
