Lakeview Elementary in Cottonwood, MN is a rural PK–6 school serving 389 students, making it one of the larger elementary buildings in its immediate Lyon County area and the flagship school of the Lakeview School District. Its own standing is stronger than its district's: the school ranks 235th of 869 Minnesota elementaries (73rd percentile, 4 stars), while the district ranks 147th of 458 (68th percentile, 3 stars). Lakeview has never fallen out of the top half of Minnesota elementaries over a decade of data, and after a dip to the 56th percentile in 2023-24 it has climbed back to top-quartile performance.

Overall, this is a strong, stable school with an unusually good record for low-income students.
