Summary:

There are three high schools serving grades 7–12 in the Milaca Public School District in Minnesota, with a combined enrollment of 774 students: Milaca Secondary High (730 students), Milaca 7-12 Online (28), and Milaca Area Learning Center (16). The district ranks 196 of 458 statewide, or the 57th percentile with 3 stars.

Milaca Secondary High is by far the largest school, enrolling 94.3% of the district's high schoolers, and it is the only one with publicly reported test scores. Its completion outcomes are strong: a 94.6% graduation rate and 1.5% dropout rate, both better than the district and well above the state (84.9% and 4.2%). Test results are mixed. Eighth grade is a clear bright spot, with math at 55.4% proficient versus 42.3% statewide and reading at 58.0% versus 50.0%. Eleventh-grade math (42.5%) also beats the state's 35.3%. But 7th-grade math (25.4% vs. 40.3% state), 7th-grade reading (34.1% vs. 43.5%), and 10th-grade reading (33.9% vs. 42.5%) lag noticeably. Overall, all-grade math (40.4%) and reading (41.7%) sit below state averages of 44.9% and 48.6%.

The other two schools cannot be compared academically, because the state suppressed their test scores; that means their proficiency is simply unknown here, not necessarily low. Milaca 7-12 Online reports a 90.0% graduation rate, 0.0% dropout, 50% free/reduced lunch, and the highest student-teacher ratio at 25.2. Milaca Area Learning Center has the highest poverty indicator (75% free/reduced lunch), the lowest graduation rate (70.0%), the highest dropout rate (10.0%), and the lowest student-teacher ratio (8.4). With only 28 and 16 students, their rates can swing sharply from one small cohort to the next, so these figures deserve context rather than direct ranking.
