Summary

Swan Valley High School is a public high school in Saginaw, MI, serving 504 students in grades 9-12 as part of the highly ranked Swan Valley School District.

If you're looking for a school where your teen will be challenged academically and supported to graduation, Swan Valley stands out. The school currently holds a 4-star rating and ranks in the 85th percentile statewide, a remarkable jump from the 58th percentile just a year earlier. This improvement shows up across the board: 75% of 11th graders are proficient in SAT reading and writing (compared to the state average of 52%), and 43% are proficient in SAT math (versus 27% statewide). The school also boasts a 95.7% graduation rate—well above the state's 84%—and a dropout rate of just 3.4%, less than half the state average. Perhaps most tellingly, chronic absenteeism sits at only 11.7%, compared to 27.9% statewide, which suggests students are engaged and showing up ready to learn.

What makes Swan Valley particularly noteworthy is how it compares to nearby schools. While Heritage High School in the neighboring Saginaw Township Community Schools district is a solid, average-performing school, Swan Valley outperforms it in nearly every category—from SAT proficiency (75% vs. 52%) to chronic absenteeism (11.7% vs. 28.4%). The contrast is even starker when looking at Saginaw United High School in the Saginaw School District of the City of, which ranks in the 7th percentile. Swan Valley also deserves credit for serving its students from low-income backgrounds exceptionally well—that subgroup ranks in the 85th percentile statewide, showing the school closes achievement gaps rather than just serving its more advantaged students. For parents seeking a comprehensive, non-selective high school with strong academics and a supportive culture, Swan Valley is a top choice in the region.

Open Quote One of the most bias schools around. If you do not have close personal relationships with teachers or staff you will not get the full help that other students might receive. If you are looking for equality this is not the place it is a small school where if one person has something bad to say that will be your label until the end. If you make one bad choice that will determine your grades and how you are treated there are far many more consequences than rewards instead of helping the people who are struggling they work around it to force you out (depending on who you are) which is not right and should not be taught by any adult figure.
