Summary

Oxford High School is a large public high school in Oxford, MI, serving 1,568 students in grades 9-12 as part of the Oxford Community Schools district. The school has earned a 4-star rating for the 2025-2026 school year, ranking in the 76th percentile among Michigan high schools—a solid improvement from its 3-star rating in prior years.

Oxford's standout strength is its exceptional student completion rates. The graduation rate of 98.9% for the 2024-2025 school year towers over the state average of 84.0%, and its dropout rate of just 0.2% is remarkably low. Academically, the school shines in English Language Arts: 65.6% of 11th graders were proficient in SAT Evidence-Based Reading and Writing, well above the state's 52.1% and competitive with nearby Lake Orion Community High School (68.9%) and Clarkston High School (69%). However, math tells a different story—only 26.9% of 11th graders were proficient in SAT Math, barely matching the state average and lagging far behind Clarkston (42.7%) and Rochester Adams High School (66%). This math-versus-literacy gap is the school's most significant area for growth.

Parents should also note that chronic absenteeism sits at 29.1%, higher than the state average (27.9%) and considerably above neighboring districts like Clarkston (14.7%) and Lake Orion (15.6%)—a factor that may undermine academic progress even with strong graduation outcomes. Science proficiency dipped slightly from 44.2% to 39.3% year-over-year, while social studies improved to 45.5%. On a positive note, the school has shown dramatic improvement in serving its Multi-racial student population, jumping from the 6th percentile statewide in 2022-2023 to the 80th percentile in 2025-2026. Overall, Oxford positions itself as a solid mid-to-upper-tier school—outperforming Brandon High School in most metrics—but with clear room to close the STEM gap relative to the region's top academic performers.

Open Quote Oxford High School is ridicolous. They are spending the money for eight tennis courts and blue turf, but were sposed to be on a budget cut? Well luckily were getting all that at once cause they are canceling PM otech. Some clusters cant go to AM otech their 2nd year so forgot having a A+ all year, being on the honor roll, and finding out what i wanna do with my life : ), we have blue turf and tennis who needs knowledge?
