As you review the school rankings data, please be aware that some of the information from certain demographics is missing. The reason for this omission is that the data has been redacted from the source data itself due to low population samples in these specific demographic groups.

Redacting data from low population samples is a necessary step to ensure the reliability and accuracy of the results, as small sample sizes may not be representative of the broader population. Additionally, this measure helps protect the privacy of individuals belonging to these demographic groups.

Open Quote I would highly not recommend this school unless you are Japanese maybe and/or don't care about being involved. Bullying is huge here. Don't expect to get help with assignments. In fact, if your child is struggling, they tend to blame you and teachers aren't obligated to share curriculum, translation help to help your kid, or basically discuss anything with you. Two years here and I've yet to see the principal Mr. Deluca even try to hold the teachers accountable. They just won't do it. They want perfect little robots but not really there to involve you. Teachers allow bullying, hitting, shoving, etc. They allow names to be called in classroom. I don't think the teachers have much training in behavior and so I mean you are going to get called a lot. So hopefully you have a good job that allows you to be called by Mr. Deluca 24/7. Because the teachers won't even face you. Sometimes kids bring home worksheets. There aren't any books. My kid asks me what stuff says and the teacher just says that they have a learning problem instead of giving help. The principal Mr. Deluca has to be one of the most hands off people I ever met. He does the bare minimum for a paycheck and that's about it. He doesn't hold teachers accountable. He backs them up to keep admin off his back and the easiest way to do that is to say that YOU and YOUR CHILD are the problem. There are 2 tracks here. One is kokugo and the other is essentially JSL. I mean to be completely honest, if your child isn't Japanese or exceptional at Japanese (even those cases I've seen put in JSL), your child will be in Japanese for foreigners. And it's something from what I have seen, that with a good tutor and some time, you could probably teach them yourself. Most of the teachers are just hired because they speak Japanese. It's the same problem in Asia. They hire native English speakers but they don't know how to teach. The same here. But they are trusted because they are Japanese and Japanese people are "good people". The principal has no idea what's really being taught. I wish he would just say it. He can't understand the curriculum so he just trusts it must be right because the Japanese person said so. No tests or anything are shared with you. Just scores. But its hard to fix a score when you don't know whats going on. My kid gets picked on a lot and has to apologize for retaliating after being pushed to their limit. It's unfortunate and honestly so many better other schools. Choose wisely. If you are a minority, please reconsider. You are setting your kid up for being a target here and it could affect their entire education. Get a tutor and send them to Japan on visits! It's not in your favor here. Close Quote

Open Quote Best Livonia school. One of the reasons my wife and I will not move from Livonia. Close Quote

Open Quote School-parent communication and service started out pretty good back when they opened in 2014, but it has really gone downhill since. I asked for class schedules back in the fall, and never received them. So I have to rely on my kids to tell me which day they have gym class, library, etc. And just this week, they announced there will be no 6th grade offered. We will be looking for other options for this fall. SMH... Close Quote

About Students eligible for discounted/free lunch:

The National School Lunch Program (NSLP) provides low-cost or free meals to students in U.S. public and nonprofit private schools based on household income. Those with incomes below 130% of the poverty line receive free lunch, while those between 130% and 185% qualify for reduced-price lunch. The percentage of students receiving free or reduced-price lunch serves as a marker for poverty, as it reflects the socioeconomic status of families in a given school or district. A higher FRPL rate typically indicates a higher concentration of low-income families, suggesting that the school or district may face additional challenges in providing adequate resources and support for student success.

About Student-Teacher Ratio

Student/teacher ratio is calculated by dividing the total number of students by the total number of full-time equivalent teachers. Please note that a smaller student/teacher ratio does not necessarily translate to smaller class size. In some instances, schools hire teachers part time, and some teachers are hired for specialized instruction with very small class sizes. These and other factors contribute to the student/teacher ratio. Note: For private schools, Student/teacher ratio may not include Pre-Kindergarten.
