As you review the school rankings data, please be aware that some of the information from certain demographics is missing. The reason for this omission is that the data has been redacted from the source data itself due to low population samples in these specific demographic groups.

Redacting data from low population samples is a necessary step to ensure the reliability and accuracy of the results, as small sample sizes may not be representative of the broader population. Additionally, this measure helps protect the privacy of individuals belonging to these demographic groups.

Open Quote I have been a teacher for about 15 years and taught at Franklin from 2005-2009. I honestly believe that FHS is a true gem in the district. You will not find more caring, dedicated teachers or administration anywhere. The students are, for the most part (!), a very nice group of kids, especially for such a large school. You just have to watch that your kids run with the right crowds, but that is the case anywhere. For such a large school, FHS does a great job not letting your kids fall through the cracks. I would encourage any parent to check out Franklin. It really is a great place for your child to thrive. Get your kid involved in the academics and activities that interest him/her, and you (as a parent) shoulf take an active role in their interests, too! Stay involved and engaged, and everyone will survive the teen years. FHS is totally undeserving of the 'bad rap' it sometimes gets in LPS. It's a great place. Go Pats! Close Quote

Open Quote Franklin has been improving in all aspects since 1999 when Mr. Willenborg took over as Principal and I feel it's actually the best of all three public high schools in Livonia now. Our oldest child entered 9th grade in 1999 as did Mr. Willenborg and we watched the improvements over each of those four years that she was at Franklin. Our youngest is now entering 9th grade and we are very excited to see what the next four years will bring so please be assured that if you and your child get involved right from the beginning with Franklin and it's many offerings, you'll not be disappointed with the results! About Students eligible for discounted/free lunch:

The National School Lunch Program (NSLP) provides low-cost or free meals to students in U.S. public and nonprofit private schools based on household income. Those with incomes below 130% of the poverty line receive free lunch, while those between 130% and 185% qualify for reduced-price lunch. The percentage of students receiving free or reduced-price lunch serves as a marker for poverty, as it reflects the socioeconomic status of families in a given school or district. A higher FRPL rate typically indicates a higher concentration of low-income families, suggesting that the school or district may face additional challenges in providing adequate resources and support for student success.

About Student-Teacher Ratio

Student/teacher ratio is calculated by dividing the total number of students by the total number of full-time equivalent teachers. Please note that a smaller student/teacher ratio does not necessarily translate to smaller class size. In some instances, schools hire teachers part time, and some teachers are hired for specialized instruction with very small class sizes. These and other factors contribute to the student/teacher ratio. Note: For private schools, Student/teacher ratio may not include Pre-Kindergarten.
