Summary

Joppa View Elementary is a mid-sized elementary school in the Perry Hall area of Baltimore, serving 491 students from Pre-K through 5th grade, and is part of the Baltimore County Public Schools district.

Joppa View stands out for its exceptional math performance, with 43.5% of students proficient in math—nearly double the district average of 21.9% and significantly above the state average of 27.1%. This strength is consistent over the past four years. The school also excels at supporting economically disadvantaged students, ranking in the 96th percentile statewide for this group. Additionally, Joppa View has a low chronic absenteeism rate of 18.4%, much better than the district average of 25.6% and far lower than nearby schools like Carney Elementary (30.2%) and Victory Villa Elementary (30.3%). This strong attendance culture helps maintain consistent academic performance.

Joppa View is a reliable, stable choice in a high-performing cluster of schools. While it is not the top performer—schools like Chapel Hill Elementary (75.7% math proficiency) and Honeygo Elementary lead the area—Joppa View holds its own as a solid option. It significantly outperforms lower-performing nearby schools like Glenmar Elementary (12.7% math proficiency) and Vincent Farm Elementary (28%). Notably, Joppa View achieves these results with efficient spending ($17,069 per student), compared to Glenmar's $25,204 per student. The school's English Language Arts proficiency (58.6%) is also above the district average (46.1%), though its math performance is its standout feature. Over the past five years, Joppa View has consistently ranked in the 63rd to 70th percentile statewide, making it a predictable and dependable option for families.

Open Quote Transferred children here from another Baltimore County Elementary school and the difference was shocking. What I thought were adequate schools were found to be lacking as my children both were behind their peers. Close work and communication between home and school staff saw a remarkable difference in progress Thos school and its staff especially are amazing! Close Quote

Open Quote I can't imagine finding another school where the teachers, parents, and staff get along better, or work together more for the children. I encourage everyone to spend time with your children at this school. You will get as much, if not more, out of it than your kids will. Thank You Mr. Palmer for your leadership and dedication to this school. Close Quote
