Be mindful if you child is not WHITE in this school the teachers will treat your kid differently. Everything a minority child does is scrutinized. There are 2 African American teachers in the whole school and this does not reflect the student population. If your minority child is smart and above average they will still be overlooked and treated as if they don't exist. Teachers tend to segregate "black" students and seat them together and disregard them if they participate by raising their hands in class. The test scores are average and they have the nerve to treat kids differently. New Town Elementary has a higher black student population and their test scores are way above average compared to Reisterstown. The building is old, it's cold in the winter and over 100 degrees in the summer. White children segregate themselves from "other" kids that are not like them and they are not very friendly. There are very few extra curricular activities and MOST teachers could really care less about the BLACK students. My child comes home everyday complaining, crying and upset because of what they have to deal with everyday. It's sad that a child recognizes racism, when racism is NEVER a topic in our home. The school is definitely diversified, with Black students being the least (my grandson is the only Black kid in his class). You have to monitor your child to make sure they are not being overlooked. After two days of monitoring him in the class, I am very disappointed with this school. If you care about your child's education, do not send them to this school. My daughter and I are seriously looking into ways of getting him into a different school. Big disappointment. Close Quote
