Open Quote Its really not bad, all the bad things from it aren't from the school just systemic problems in our society. A bad kid is made from a failure of the parents and the environment around them. Urbana high is the best school in the state, 50 white, meade on the other half is 50 african american. Its not really the biggest race thing it has mostly things to do with class. a lot of the kids here are poor, and the poorest people are usually the minorities in an country, its modern day segregation, not by race, but by class Close Quote

Open Quote Upon arriving to Ft. Meade on military orders, we were advised against letting our 17 year old daughter attend due to numerous complaints from other parents on and around the military post regarding the school, the staff and especially the local student population. It has been a year and a half since PCSing here and, unfortunately, we too would have reservations in recommending the school to parents of students on post. Close Quote

Open Quote I have two kids currently attending this school, they are both on the IB program, they attend school everyday with a lot of enthusiasm and energy. I usually stay in touch with my kids' teachers and thanks to our God as of today nothing major has happened. Any school is perfect but I don't think this is the worst one. I have had the opportunity to visit it during the day...accident free!! They also have great teachers, well at least for the IB program. Close Quote

Open Quote I went to Meade Senior High a few years ago; class of '08. This school was the absolute most horrible nightmare that I have ever experienced. I really don't know how I got through it.

I'm sure the school hasn't changed since I attended...I've read a few reviews from earlier in 2010 that share my sentiments.

The students constantly rebel against the teachers and cause disruptions in the classroom. I have never been surrounded by a wilder pack of animals than at Meade Senior. I felt like I was in a jungle and monkeys were swinging from trees and throwing objects (oh yes, I'm serious...10th graders throwing things at each other in class). Because of this ridiculous behavior, the teachers don't care anymore; they give up, and practice ZERO discipline for the most part. They have no spine.

All my life, I had been used to schools on military bases that were well disciplined, well lit, clean, with good educators/teachers and students that had self respect and a sense of poise and control about themselves. You will not find this at Meade Senior. This is NOT an environment conducive to learning, and I would not recommend even the AP classes for college preparation. Meade's horrible learning environment and curriculum won't even prepare you for basic community college type of course work.

Overall, an absolutely horrific experience. I would NEVER recommend ANYONE to this school. Close Quote

Open Quote More like an out of control prison than a center for learning. In a visit to the school recently, I saw 2 fights break out not but 50 feet away from the Principal's office, random students wandering the hall being yelled at multiple times by the same administrators for not being in class, and a student who literally just got out of jail checking back in only to ditch class to wander the halls...all within an hour. While the overall student to teacher ratio is nice, a majority of classes for a majority of the students is closer to 30:1 than reported. Drugs and violence are a constant problem for this school as Anne Arundel county has chosen to send students from the worst towns and neighborhoods in the area to this school, which is shameful considering how extrodinary this school used to be. Bottom line, DO NOT SEND YOUR KIDS HERE IF YOU CARE ABOUT THEM!!! Close Quote
