Its strongest feature is completion: the 2024–2025 graduation rate was 97.8% and the dropout rate was 0.6%, among the best of nearby schools and far ahead of New Bedford High (84.8% graduation, 11.4% dropout) and Whaling City Junior/Senior High School (50.6%, 29.9%). Test scores are much weaker. In 2025–2026 MCAS Next Generation 10th-grade proficiency, ELA was 25.37%, Math 26.07%, Science 22.09%, and Biology End of Course 22.18% — all well below state averages and below most nearby comprehensive schools such as Old Rochester Regional High, Apponequet Regional High, Dartmouth High, and Fairhaven High. It does outperform other New Bedford schools, and among vocational peers it is mixed: Diman Regional Vocational Technical High leads in ELA, Math, and Biology, while Gr New Bedford edges ahead in Science.

The most striking trend is decline. Proficiency has fallen steeply since 2022–2023 — ELA from 54.89% to 25.37%, Math from 49.53% to 26.07% — much more than statewide declines, with the school's rank dropping from the 52nd percentile to the 21st. Subgroup effectiveness also weakened broadly, with every reported group landing below the state median in 2025–2026. Spending is high at $22,955 per student (2020–2021) with a moderate student-teacher ratio of 11.2, but that has not translated into higher proficiency.
