Jonas Clarke Middle is a grades 6–8 school in Lexington, Massachusetts, serving 796 students in one of the state's top-ranked districts, and it stands among the highest-performing middle schools in Massachusetts: it ranked 3rd of 478 middle schools in 2025–2026 (99th percentile, five stars) and has never ranked lower than 16th since 2016–2017, including first-place finishes in 2024–2025 and 2022–2023.

Student results are strong across subjects. In 2025–2026, 79.32% of students were proficient in English Language Arts, 84.23% in Mathematics, and 76.63% in Science — roughly double the state averages of 40.03%, 41.11%, and 40.98%. Compared with Wm Diamond Middle, Lexington's other middle school and 10th in the state, Clarke leads in all three subjects. Its 7th grade is a standout (80.53% in ELA and 87.40% in Math), ahead of nearby Ottoson Middle (5th statewide) and Belmont Middle. The 8th grade picture is mixed — Wm Diamond posts higher 8th grade ELA and Math scores — and Science slipped from 81.06% in 2024–2025 to 76.63%, with Ottoson (77.60%) and Belmont (79.10%) now slightly ahead. Civics is strong at 79.77%.

Special Education students ranked 45th of 436 (90th percentile, four stars) in 2025–2026, down from five stars the prior year, and remain an area to watch; the state suppressed free/reduced-price lunch percentages, so socioeconomic composition cannot be assessed from that metric. Per-student spending was $20,815 in 2020–2021 — less than the Waltham and Watertown schools Clarke outperforms — and its 2024–2025 student-teacher ratio of 9.4 is better than most nearby middle schools.
