Summary

Clarksburg Elementary is a small PK–8 school in rural Clarksburg, Massachusetts, serving 204 students and operating as its own single-school district. Statewide, it ranks 630th of 899 elementary schools for 2025–2026 — about the 30th percentile, with 2 stars — while the Clarksburg district ranks 249th of 351 districts (29th percentile, 1 star). The school sat closer to the middle of the state a few years ago, around the 46th percentile in 2020–2022, then drifted down to roughly the 30th percentile in recent years.

On 2025–2026 MCAS Next Generation tests, Clarksburg was below the state in every core subject: 31.82% proficient in English language arts versus 40.03% statewide, 27.41% in math versus 41.11%, and 34.62% in science versus 40.98%. Math is the largest gap, nearly 14 points. Results vary sharply by grade. Third-grade math was about 10 points above the state, and 8th-grade science and civics were also above state, with 8th-grade ELA essentially at state level. But 4th- and 5th-grade math, 5th-grade science, and 8th-grade math were each more than 20 points below the state. Compared with nearby schools, Clarksburg does better than Colegrove Park Elementary, Hoosac Valley Elementary School, and Abbott Memorial in most subjects, and is roughly comparable to Emma L Miller Elementary School and Rowe Elementary in places, but trails Williamstown Elementary and Lanesborough Elementary — both in the higher-ranked Mount Greylock district — by wide margins, especially in ELA and math.

In 2024–2025 Clarksburg's student–teacher ratio was 12.3, the highest among the nearby schools listed, and its per-student spending of $17,102 (2020–2021) was the lowest among nearby schools with reported spending. Subgroup results are mixed: male students ranked in the 27th percentile (1 star) in 2025–2026, while low-income students reached the 57th percentile (3 stars) in 2024–2025 — up from the 19th percentile a year earlier but down from the 90th in 2021–2022, so that pattern is volatile.
