It operates within a district that itself ranks 299 of 351 statewide, so the school's context is a district scoring below the state average overall.

About 15.9% of Lee students met expectations in English language arts, 13.0% in math, and 10.8% in science on 2025–2026 MCAS tests. That trails the Boston district (29.4% ELA, 29.1% math, 24.9% science) and Massachusetts (around 40% in each subject). Even so, the gains are real: all-grade ELA rose roughly 9 points, math about 11 points, and science about 9 points since 2022–2023. The most encouraging finding is how well Lee serves its English Language Learner students, whose statewide subgroup rank is 71 of 291 (76th percentile, 4 stars), up from the 6th percentile a year earlier. The Hispanic student subgroup also reached the 51st percentile with 3 stars, and low-income students rose from the 5th to the 32nd percentile. Special education students remain much lower, at the 11th percentile.

Results vary sharply by grade. Fifth-grade math is a bright spot at 37.5% proficient, above the district's 27.0%, but 7th-grade math is 1.64%, 8th-grade math and civics are 0%, and 8th-grade science is 1.85%. Compared with nearby schools, Lee outperforms King Elementary School, Greenwood Sarah K-8 School, Mildred Avenue K-8 School, and Young Achievers Elementary School in most subjects, but trails Holmes Elementary School, UP Academy Holland, and UP Academy Charter School of Dorchester. Lee has a low student-teacher ratio (9.3) and the highest listed per-student spending among these nearby Boston schools ($31,540 in 2020–2021), yet some schools spending less post higher proficiency — a gap worth asking about, especially in grades 7–8.
