Summary

Condon K-8 School is a public elementary and middle school located in South Boston, MA, serving 580 students from pre-kindergarten through 8th grade. The school is part of the Boston Public School District, which is ranked 298 out of 348 districts in Massachusetts and has a 1-star rating from SchoolDigger.

Despite spending significantly more per student ($28,367 in 2020-2021) compared to the state average, Condon K-8 School consistently ranks in the bottom 10-15% of Massachusetts elementary schools based on its statewide ranking history. Its performance on MCAS Next Generation assessments is significantly below the state and Boston district averages across all grades and subjects. The school also struggles to serve its diverse student population effectively, ranking in the bottom 20-30% of Massachusetts elementary schools for African American, Hispanic, English Language Learner, Special Education, and Low Socioeconomic Status students.

Interestingly, the nearby schools, such as Tynan Elementary, Quincy Elementary, and Hurley K-8 School, generally outperform Condon K-8 School on academic measures, despite serving similar student populations and being part of the same district. This suggests that there may be opportunities for Condon K-8 School to learn from the practices and strategies of its higher-performing peers.

Open Quote Bullying in this school is beyond !!!!! The disrespect that some of the teachers display onto students tells the story why students are disrespectful in return. They absolutely need surveillance cameras in every classroom and all corridors because there are teachers and paras in that school that don't deserve to be there. Close Quote
