Dudley-Charlton Regional serves roughly 3,476 students across seven schools in the Dudley and Charlton area of Massachusetts: four elementary schools, two middle schools, and one high school. The district overall ranks 257 of 351 in the state, placing it in the 27th percentile with 1 star, but individual schools are ranked against different comparison pools. Charlton Elementary and Mason Road School serve only prekindergarten through grade 1 and have no MCAS results, so their academics cannot be compared with the others.

Among schools with test data, Heritage School is the clearest bright spot, with all-grade math proficiency of 41.83% above the state's 41.11% and 4th grade math at 49.65%, the highest proficiency figure in this data set; it also holds the strongest rank history here at 47th percentile. At the middle level, Dudley Middle School has the district's best ELA results (37.12%), with 7th grade ELA at 43.57%, above the state's 39.91%. Charlton Middle School shows a relative science edge, including 5th grade science at 43.75%. Shepherd Hill Regional High has a 92.2% graduation rate and 4.4% dropout rate, both better than the district, and Biology End of Course proficiency of 40.44% above the state's 37.68% — yet its 10th grade scores are far below state, including ELA at 24.74% versus 45.48%.

The most consistent concern is middle-school math: both middle schools score far below the state in 7th and 8th grade math, 8th grade science, and 8th grade civics.
