Open Quote Coming from a current student at this school, it’s absolutely awful. CHS does not care in the slightest about kids with mental illnesses, kids who are neurodivergent, kids who don't have money, LGBTQ+ kids, and kids who aren't in safe environments. At one point a counselor told my friend who’s diagnosed with major depressive disorder that he was too depressed to be at the school, that he was a distraction to other students, and that the world didn't revolve around him. That was one of the most inappropriate ways I have ever seen a person deal with mental illness, and the fact that they were allowed to say that is even more disgusting. “All of you are at an amazing school” They say as if there weren't five different fights in the very first week of school. The building is so overcrowded that all the students are just always irritated with each other which leads to more fights. This school saved lives when it housed people during Hurricane Katrina but quite frankly it seems like it's trying to take all those lives back with the amount of kids that want to kill themselves from how depressed they all are and the fact that this school doesn't care. Also the teachers are terrible, I can count on one hand the amount of good teachers I've had. My class was only just recently assigned a permanent history teacher, we didn't even have one at the beginning, for a while my friend didn't have a Spanish teacher, as a matter of fact, NO TEACHER EVER WENT TO THAT CLASS. They had a teacher assigned but failed to tell said teacher and so no teacher ever showed up for a couple of weeks. There are so many other situations I could recall but it would make it too long and I'm tired of typing so, in conclusion, this school sucks. Close Quote
