Summary:
The seven schools in Bell County include six schools serving prekindergarten through grade 8 and one high school serving grades 9–12. In 2025–2026, the elementary schools’ average reported results were above the matching state results in every subject: by 19 points in writing, 11 in social studies, 10 in reading and science, 5 in math, and 2 in editing and mechanics. Of 81 reported elementary grade-and-subject results, 55 were above the state result. The clearest overall finding is that elementary results were generally stronger than state results, especially in writing.
Yellow Creek School Center stands out most consistently: it had 81% in grade 5 reading versus 51% statewide and 87% in grade 8 writing versus 48%. Bell County High School also had a strong profile outside math, including 71% in grade 11 writing versus 47% statewide; its grade 10 math result was 37%, 3 points below the state. Results are mixed at other schools: Right Fork School Center had 28% in grade 5 writing versus 35% statewide, while Lone Jack School Center had 22% in grade 7 science versus 28%. Lone Jack also had 67% in grade 8 social studies, compared with 39% statewide, illustrating how much results can vary by grade and subject.
Recent trends and school context offer useful distinctions, but no single measure points to one best fit. Relative to state changes, matched elementary results improved most in social studies (about 11 points) and writing (6 points), while editing and mechanics was nearly unchanged. SchoolDigger ranked Yellow Creek at the 82nd statewide percentile in 2025–2026; Bell Central was at the 59th, Lone Jack at the 58th, Page at the 52nd and Right Fork at the 41st. From 2023–2024 to 2025–2026, SchoolDigger’s rankings rose 35 percentile points at Lone Jack and 10 at Bell Central School Center, while Yellow Creek’s fell 4. The 2024–2025 free/reduced lunch eligible shares ranged from 74% at Frakes School Center to 92% at Right Fork; student–teacher ratios ranged from 11.0 at Right Fork to 16.1 at Yellow Creek. Chronic absenteeism was another concern: 37% at the high school versus 24% statewide, and 33% at Lone Jack.
