Lawrence Elementary consistently ranks in the bottom half of Kansas elementary schools, with a ranking between 546-617 out of 656-678 schools over the past 10 years. The school's performance on state assessments is significantly below the Wichita district and state averages across all grades and subjects, particularly in mathematics. While Lawrence Elementary's per-student spending and student-teacher ratio are not drastically different from nearby schools like Park Elementary, Black Traditional Magnet Elementary, and Riverside Leadership Magnet Elementary, the persistent underperformance suggests that more targeted interventions and support may be needed to address the unique needs of the school's students and improve educational outcomes.

Open Quote The faculty at this school are very creative and caring. They go above and beyond requirements to help students do their best. They make learning fun and maintain discipline throughout the building. Most students come from low income and immigrant families who work hard wanting the best for their children. Students often don't come to school prepared for kindergarten, but teachers work very hard to catch them up. There is not much parental involvement in the school, but teachers work to improve that. It is a positive environment for students to learn and grow. Test scores are not the only indicator of an outstanding school. Close Quote
