Summary

Frank V Bergman Elementary is a public elementary school located in Manhattan, Kansas, serving grades PK-5 with a student population of 555. The school is part of the Manhattan-Ogden school district, which is ranked 77 out of 264 districts in Kansas and has a 4-star rating from SchoolDigger.

Frank V Bergman Elementary consistently ranks in the top half of Kansas elementary schools, with strong academic performance on the Kansas Assessment Program (KAP) tests, generally above the district and state averages. The school particularly excels for certain student subgroups, such as Special Education students and Military Connected students, though it struggles with the performance of Low Socio-Economic Status students. The school has maintained a strong 4-year graduation rate, but its chronic absenteeism rate is slightly higher than the state average.

Compared to nearby schools, Frank V Bergman Elementary generally outperforms Ogden Elementary, Bluemont Elementary, and Northview Elementary on academic measures, but lags behind the higher-performing Amanda Arnold Elementary and Marlatt Elementary. The school's relatively high percentage of free and reduced-price lunch recipients, coupled with its challenges in supporting its low-income student population, are areas for continued focus and improvement.

Open Quote Bergman Elementary has an amazing environment for children to learn. Not only are they exposed to students from many cultures and ethnicities, they also work side by side with children with handicaps. They learn that not everyone looks the same or acts the same, but they can all push up their sleeves to learn side by side.

My daughter started kindergarten there and has gone through the 5th grade. She has learned to be a self motivated learner and also to "Do the Right Thing". Pillars of Character are taught at age appropriate levels.

Also the before/after school program and the summer program BLAST takes a huge weight off of the shoulders of working parents. Kids have daily activities that helps them learn in non-traditional methods (even though they may not realize that they are learning). Fitness class, cooking, sewing, entrepreneurship, etc. keep the kids busy and learning.

I strongly recommend this school to anyone that will have children in this district. Close Quote
