Summary
Goessel Elementary is a small school in the community of Goessel, Kansas, serving 118 students in prekindergarten through fifth grade. Its clearest strength in 2025–26 was math: 72% of students were proficient, compared with 41% statewide and 56% in the Goessel district. That was the highest math result among the nearby schools in the comparison, ahead of the next-best result, Hesston Elementary, at 65%. Goessel also exceeded the state in math in each tested grade, making math its most consistent and standout academic strength.
Results were more mixed in ELA and science. Goessel’s all-grades ELA proficiency was 56%—above the state’s 46% and the nearby-school average of 51%, but below the district’s 58%; four nearby schools scored higher. SchoolDigger ranked Goessel in the 74th percentile statewide in 2025–26 and gave it four stars, up 38 percentile points from 2023–24; the district ranked in the 89th percentile. The student–teacher ratio was 9.6, the second-lowest among nearby schools, and the free/reduced-lunch rate was 37%, also the second-lowest. SchoolDigger’s statewide effectiveness percentile for White students rose from 27 in 2023–24 to 72 in 2025–26, while its percentile for Female Students fell from 97 in 2020–21 to 60 in 2025–26. With 118 students, year-to-year test results may shift when relatively small groups of students are tested.
