Washburn Rural High is a grades 9–12 school in Topeka, Kansas, serving 1,878 students in the Auburn-Washburn district. Its 2023–24 graduation rate was 94%, above the state’s 90%, but chronic absenteeism reached 25% in 2025–26, compared with 18% statewide and 18% in the district. The clearest concern for families is that attendance has worsened even as graduation remains strong.
