The area has three schools serving students from prekindergarten through grade 12: Udall Elementary (PK–5), Udall Middle School (6–8) and Udall High (9–12), with 301 students combined. The most important difference is in math: Middle’s 60% proficiency is 40 points higher than Elementary’s 20%, so the area’s near-state average masks a sharp split between schools.

Udall Middle School stands out in English language arts and math, with 52% in ELA and 60% in math; those results are 6 and 19 points above state figures. Udall Elementary is lowest in math, 21 points below the state, but leads in science at 55%—16 points above the state and 20 points above Udall High, the lowest at 35%. Elementary’s all-grades results also conceal a pronounced grade-level contrast: fourth-grade ELA and math are 11% and 5%, while fifth-grade ELA is 64%.

Recent trends vary by subject: the average ELA gap from the state widened by 3 points, and the math position shifted down by 5 points; in science, the average gap for Elementary and Middle improved by 15 points, moving from below to above the state. SchoolDigger’s longer-term percentile rankings also diverge: from 2023–24 to 2025–26, Middle rose 23 points, while Elementary fell 31 and High fell 24; all three rose 2 points in the latest year. School measures offer no simple explanation for these differences: Middle has the highest student-teacher ratio at 10.6 and the lowest enrollment at 66, while Elementary has the lowest ratio at 9.3 and the highest free/reduced-lunch rate at 51%. High’s 100% graduation rate sits alongside chronic absenteeism of 19%, above the state’s 18%.
