Summary:
The Solomon area has two schools serving PK–12: Solomon Elementary serves PK–8, and Solomon High serves grades 9–12. In 2025–26, the schools’ all-grades results varied by subject: the Elementary was just below the state in math and above it in science, while the High was above the state in math but below in ELA and science. Both schools improved in ELA and math from the prior year and narrowed their gaps to the state; that shared upward trend is the most important area-wide finding.
The Elementary had the stronger all-grades ELA and science results: 43% and 40%, compared with the High’s 42% and 30%. The High led in math, at 43% versus 40% at the Elementary. Grade-level results show why schoolwide scores can hide differences: the Elementary was 26 points above the state in fourth-grade math but 22 points below in sixth-grade math. At the High, tenth-grade math was 7 points above the state, while its all-grades science result was 8 points below. Because the schools serve different grades, their all-grades results are not direct grade-for-grade comparisons.
Recent progress was especially striking in Elementary science: its score rose 19 points in one year, moving from 21 points below the state to 1 point above it. The High’s SchoolDigger statewide ranking also rose, from the 21st percentile in 2023–24 to the 61st in 2025–26; the Elementary ended at the 30th percentile, where it began. Other considerations differ: chronic absenteeism was 35% at the High and 10% at the Elementary, while the High’s 2023–24 graduation rate was 100%. Student–teacher ratios were similar, at 10.2 at the High and 10.6 at the Elementary; reported free/reduced-lunch rates were 47% and 62%, respectively.
