Summary:
Logan has two listed schools: Logan Elementary, serving pre-K through grade 6 with 76 students, and Logan High, serving grades 7–12 with 49 students. Both report much lower chronic absenteeism than the state: 3% at the elementary school and 2% at the high school, versus 18% statewide. The clearest shared academic strength is ELA: both schools are above the state’s 46% proficiency rate, with results of 47% at Elementary and 48% at High.
Logan High has the highest reported all-grades result in each 2025–2026 subject: 48% in ELA, 43% in math and 47% in science. Its lead over Logan Elementary is especially clear in science, at 8 points, and math, at 4 points; their ELA results are nearly tied. Elementary is at 39% in math, below the 41% state result, while High is above the state in math and science. Elementary’s grade-level figures reveal a sharper contrast: fifth-grade math is 15% proficient, about 30 points below the state, compared with 60% in sixth grade, about 19 points above it. These all-grades results cover different grade spans, so they are not like-for-like comparisons.
Recent trends are mixed, with science the main concern: from 2024–2025 to 2025–2026, science fell 16 points at Elementary and 17 at High, compared with a 3-point statewide decline. Elementary improved 6 points in ELA and 11 in math; High’s ELA was essentially unchanged, while its math fell 8 points. The schools also differ in reported resources and context: the student-teacher ratio is 10.8 at Elementary and 5.4 at High, and their free/reduced-lunch rates are 55% and 45%, respectively. These measures describe the schools but do not explain their score differences.
