Summary:

The Remington Elementary at Potwin serves prekindergarten through grade 4, Remington Middle School serves grades 5–8, and Frederic Remington High serves grades 9–12. In 2025–26, all three schools’ all-grades ELA and math proficiency rates were above the state results, though the middle school’s math advantage was just 1 point. Because the schools serve different grades, their all-grades results are not perfectly like-for-like. The most important area-wide finding is that each school was above the state in both ELA and math.

The elementary school stands out in ELA and math, while the middle school leads the reported science results. Elementary students were proficient at 61% in ELA, 10 points ahead of the next-highest school, and 52% in math, about 1 point ahead of the high school. The middle school’s science result was 49%, 14 points above the high school’s 35%; the elementary school’s science score was not provided. The middle school had the lowest math result, at 42%, though that was still just above the state’s 41%. The high school’s science result was 3 points below the state. It also had the lowest chronic absenteeism: 5%, compared with 18% statewide and 9% districtwide.

The high school made the biggest two-year gains in ELA and math, while the elementary school’s scores slipped and the middle school’s science result fell sharply from a high prior score. High-school ELA rose 7 points and math rose 19 points from 2024–25 to 2025–26; elementary ELA and math each fell about 2 points. Middle-school science dropped 18 points, but remained 10 points above the state. SchoolDigger’s latest rankings place the high school at the 83rd percentile, elementary at the 75th and middle at the 62nd; the high school rebounded from the 61st percentile in 2024–25. Ratios range from 10 students per teacher at the high school to 15 at elementary, with 13.1 at middle school. Free/reduced-lunch rates range from 37% at the high school to 48% at middle school; these figures offer context, not an explanation for results.
