Pike Valley has one middle school, Pike Valley Junior High, serving grades 7–8 and enrolling 30 students, so there are no other local middle schools to compare it with. Its 2025–2026 proficiency results were above the state’s in every reported subject and grade. The most important finding for families is that the school’s clearest advantage over the state was in science.
As the only school listed, Pike Valley Junior High is both the area’s highest- and lowest-performing school by default. Its all-grades proficiency was 70% in English language arts (ELA), 61% in mathematics, and 69% in science; compared with state results, those scores were higher by 24, 20, and 31 percentage points, respectively. ELA was its highest score, but science was its strongest relative to the state. Grade 8 ELA stood out in particular: 81% proficiency, compared with 42% statewide, a 39-point gap. Each reported grade-and-subject result was above the state figure.
Results improved between 2024–2025 and 2025–2026, and the school’s gains outpaced state changes in all three subjects: proficiency rose 10 points in ELA, 7 in mathematics, and 2 in science, while the school–state gaps widened by 8, 5, and 5 points. SchoolDigger’s ranking also improved, from 69th of 362 schools in 2023–2024 to 14th of 368 in 2025–2026; its percentile rose from 81 to 96, and its rating increased from four to five stars. The student–teacher ratio was 7.6 in 2024–2025, and 37% of students qualified for free or reduced-price lunch that year. Chronic absenteeism was 15% in 2025–2026, below the state’s 18% but above the Pike Valley district’s 8%. With just 30 students, results may be sensitive to small numbers of test-takers.
