Conway Springs

The Conway Springs area has three small schools serving students from prekindergarten through grade 12: Kyle Trueblood Elementary (PK–5), Conway Springs Middle School (6–8), and Conway Springs High School (9–12). Their 2025–26 results show a stronger area profile in math and science than in English language arts (ELA), but the clearest concern is the high school’s ELA result: 33% proficient, 13 points below the state.

The high school stands out for math and science, with 56% proficient in math and 66% in science—14 and 27 points above the state, respectively. It also has the area’s lowest all-grades ELA result, 13 points below the average of the other two schools. The middle school leads in all-grades ELA at 47%, about 1 point above the state, and its sixth-grade ELA result is especially strong: 71%, 29 points above the same-grade state result. The elementary school’s all-grades ELA is close to state, while its math is 1 point below. Grade-level results reveal sharper differences: elementary fifth grade is 14 points below state in ELA and 13 below in math, while middle-school math is above state in all three tested grades.

Recent results show different paths by school and subject. ELA fell 9 points at the elementary school and 23 at the high school, while the middle school rose 7; across the three schools, the average position shifted from 6 points above the state in 2024–25 to 4 below in 2025–26. The average math advantage also narrowed, from 13 points to 7. SchoolDigger rankings put the high school at the 83rd percentile in 2025–26, down from the 95th in the prior two years; the middle school moved from the 71st to 74th percentile, while the elementary school went from the 30th to 59th and then 42nd. Enrollment ranges from 89 to 146, and student-teacher ratios range from 9.2 to 13.4. Free/reduced-lunch rates are 26% at the high school and about 39% at each of the other schools; these are contextual figures, not explanations for results.
