Summary:

Cherryvale has two schools, [Lincoln Central Elementary](https://www.schooldigger.com/go/KS/schools/0474001122/school.aspx), serving PK–6, and [Thayer Schools](https://www.schooldigger.com/go/KS/schools/0474001867/school.aspx), serving PK–8, with 268 and 137 students, respectively. In 2025–26 all-grades results, Lincoln scored 48% in ELA, 40% in math and 57% in science; Thayer scored 58%, 57% and 64%. Thayer is the strongest overall performer in the latest results, leading in all three subjects.

Thayer’s all-grades results are above state proficiency in every subject, by 13 percentage points in ELA, 16 in math and 25 in science; Lincoln is 2 points above the state in ELA and 18 in science, but 1 point below in math. Grade-level results show important exceptions: Lincoln leads Thayer by 49 points in third-grade ELA (74% versus 25%) and by 7 points in fifth-grade science (57% versus 50%). Thayer, in turn, leads by 30 points in fifth-grade math and 63 points in sixth-grade math. Families may find the results for their child’s grade more informative than the all-grades comparison.

Thayer’s scores rose in all three subjects from 2024–25 to 2025–26—by 6 points in ELA, 13 in math and 15 in science—while Lincoln’s ELA and math each slipped by 1 and 2 points, and its science score rose by 5. SchoolDigger’s statewide percentile for Thayer climbed from 54 in 2023–24 to 74 in 2025–26; Lincoln rose from 41 to 50, then dipped to 47. Student–teacher ratios are similar, at 11.6 for Thayer and 11.4 for Lincoln; 2024–25 free/reduced-lunch rates were 58% and 65%, respectively. These rates are context, not an explanation for achievement. All-grades results cover different grade spans, and the score changes compare only two years.
