Scottsburg Middle School serves grades 6–8 at 425 S 3rd St in Scottsburg, Indiana, enrolling 556 students as part of Scott County School District 2 in Scott County. The district is relatively strong statewide (123rd of 374 districts, 3 stars), but the school ranked 245th of 486 Indiana middle schools in 2025-26 — the 50th percentile, 3 stars — down from 164th (67th percentile) just two years earlier. It has since been overtaken by Salem Middle School, which jumped into the 60th percentile.

The clearest academic issue here is reading and writing, not instruction overall.
