Summary

Central Elementary School is a K–5 school serving 634 students in Indianapolis, IN, within the MSD Pike Township district, and it is one of the larger elementaries among its nearby same-district peers. In 2025–26 it ranked 810th of 1,015 Indiana schools (20th percentile, 1 star), placing it in the bottom quintile of the state. Even so, the trend is clearly upward: back in 2021–22 the school ranked 988th of 1,020, or the 3rd percentile, and its improvement shows up across multiple subjects and measures.

Fishback Creek Public Academy is a 4-star school with ELA at 57.38%, math at 54.43% and science at 51.90%, despite a similar enrollment, spending level and student-teacher ratio. Central does outperform Jonathan Jennings School 109 - an Exploratory School (7th percentile), which spends $18,898 per student with a much lower ratio of 11.9. Indiana Connections Academy K-6 is a virtual school with a different model, so direct comparison should be cautious. Overall, Central is improving from a low base, with attendance and math as strengths and 3rd grade reading as the top priority.
