That reflects a turnaround: from 2015–2016 through 2018–2019 it was mostly a 2–3 star school in the 44th–69th percentile, while since 2020–2021 it has consistently earned 4 stars and generally ranked in the 70th–87th percentile.

Compared with nearby middle schools, Oak Hill stands out. Its rank beats every other nearby school with a reported rank: Eastern Middle School is the closest academic peer at 169 of 486 (65th percentile, 3 stars), followed by Eastbrook Middle School at 184 of 486. Others land in the bottom half of the state, including R J Baskett Middle School (270), Maconaquah Middle School (330), Taylor Middle School (368), John L McCulloch Junior High School (366) and Bon Air Middle School (481).
