Summary

North Posey High School is a public high school in Poseyville, Indiana — a small community in the southwestern corner of the state near Evansville — serving grades 9–12 with 453 students as part of MSD North Posey County Schools. The district ranks 18th of 374 in Indiana, and the school ranks 45th of 415 for 2025–26, placing it in the top 11% of the state and marking its best showing since 2016–17. That reflects a strong recovery: North Posey fell to 161st of 398 in 2022–23, then climbed to 69th, 61st, and now 45th.

Reading is the standout strength. In 2025–26 SAT Evidence-based Reading and Writing, 70.33% of students were proficient — 18.43 points above the state's 51.9% and essentially tied with Gibson Southern High School at 70.56%. SAT math was 32.97% proficient, above the state's 25.6% but behind Gibson Southern (45%), New Technical Institute (35.48%), and Central High School (35.43%), making math the clearest area for growth. Biology proficiency reached 56.57%, up from 17.8% in 2022–23. The 2024–25 graduation rate was 97.0% against the state's 89.7%, and chronic absenteeism was 9.5% versus the state's 16.7%, though above the district's 6.5% average.

About 29.36% of students qualified for free or reduced lunch in 2024–25, so these results are not simply the product of very low poverty. Per-student spending was $12,267 with a 13.6 student-teacher ratio — far less than Mount Vernon High School's $15,779 and 10.7 ratio, yet North Posey ranks 45th statewide versus Mount Vernon's 155th. Subgroup effectiveness is strong for male (90th percentile), female (86th), and low-income (86th) students. The special education subgroup fell to the 54th percentile from the 91st–92nd range in prior years and is the main watchpoint. Signature School Inc, with near-perfect scores and a 10.68% free-lunch rate, is a statewide outlier rather than a typical peer; Gibson Southern remains the closest benchmark.
