Summary

New Albany Senior High School is a public high school serving 1,814 students in grades 9-12 in New Albany, Indiana, which is part of the New Albany-Floyd County Consolidated School District. The school has seen fluctuating academic performance, with proficiency rates on standardized tests like ILEARN and SAT below the district averages. However, the school has shown strengths in the performance of specific student subgroups, such as African American, Hispanic, and White students, though it has struggled to support English Language Learners and students from low-socioeconomic backgrounds.

Compared to nearby schools, Floyd Central High School consistently outperforms New Albany Senior High School on academic measures. Other nearby schools, such as William W. Borden High School and Lanesville Junior-Senior High School, also demonstrate stronger academic performance. Additionally, New Albany Senior High School has experienced relatively high chronic absenteeism rates, which may be impacting its overall academic performance.

Despite the school's higher spending per student compared to the state average, its academic performance does not seem to be commensurate with the increased funding, suggesting a need to evaluate the effectiveness of resource allocation and utilization. Overall, New Albany Senior High School has shown a mixed performance, with strengths in supporting certain student subgroups but also areas of concern, such as lower overall academic achievement and high chronic absenteeism rates, which present opportunities for improvement.
