Charity Dye School 27 serves nearly the same poverty level (44.25%), has a nearly identical student-teacher ratio, and similar absenteeism (22.2%), yet outperforms Carver in reading, math, and science. Global Preparatory Academy has far higher poverty (82.08%), lower spending, and more absenteeism, but posts higher scores in all three subjects. Herron Preparatory Academy, about a mile away, reached the 72nd percentile with 4 stars. Carver does outperform James Whitcomb Riley School 43, Liberty Grove Schools, and Matchbook Learning, so it is not the weakest school nearby — but it sits closer to the bottom than the top.
