Union Township School Corp is a small, high-performing Indiana district of four schools — two elementary, one middle, and one high school — serving roughly 1,386 students across elementary through high school grades. The district is rated 14th of 374 Indiana districts, placing it in the 96th percentile with 5 stars.

The elementary schools are the district's strongest segment. Union Center Elementary School earned 5 stars in each of the last three years and ranked 30/1011, 63/1005, and 66/1015 over that span. It also has the lowest chronic absenteeism in the district at 2.6%, the lowest FRL rate at 19.43%, and 2025-26 all-grade proficiency of 71.3% in both ELA and math. John Simatovich Elementary School is the biggest improver, rising from 4 stars to 5 stars and from 221/1005 to 100/1015, with standout science (78.95% all grades) and 4th-grade math (89.47%). Its all-grade ELA is 64.41%, slightly below the district's 65.33%, and it carries the highest FRL rate (45.71%) and the highest elementary absenteeism (8.9%).

The middle and high schools remain strong but have slipped from prior peaks. Union Township Middle School moved from 5 stars to 4 stars and from the 96th to the 90th percentile, with 2025-26 all-grade scores of 62.09% ELA, 52.75% math, and 44.35% science, all below district averages. Wheeler High School also fell from 5 stars to 4 stars, though its 98.8% graduation rate far exceeds the state's 89.7%, biology is 75%, and SAT ERW is 60.23%; SAT math dropped from 39.29% to 28.41%, still above the state's 25.6%. District chronic absenteeism is 6.9% versus the state's 16.7%. Overall, elementary achievement, low absenteeism, and graduation rates are the clearest strengths, while middle school science and math and high school SAT math are the main areas to watch.
