Summary:

Six elementary schools serve students in grades PK–4 in Richmond Community Schools, an Indiana district ranked #286 of 374 statewide (24th percentile, 1 star), with a combined enrollment of 1,844 students ranging from 258 at Westview Elementary School to 373 at Crestdale Elementary School.

Charles Elementary School stands apart from the rest. It is the only school rated 4 stars and the only one above the 80th percentile (#203 of 1,015), and its All-Grades ILEARN proficiency — 50.39% in ELA, 67.44% in math, and 60.94% in science — far exceeds every peer. The other five schools all hold 1 star and rank between the 18th and 26th percentiles: Vaile Elementary School (26th), Fairview Elementary School (24th), Westview (21st), Crestdale (20th), and Starr Elementary School (18th).

Chronic absenteeism is the most widespread concern: five of six schools exceed the state rate of 16.7%, led by Starr at 46.1% and Crestdale at 36.3%, while Charles (16.6%) sits essentially at the state level. Science is another weak spot, with steep declines at Westview (–17.33 points), Vaile (–16.42), and Crestdale (–15.37); only Charles clears the district science reference. Math improved at five of six schools, and Fairview lifted its rank percentile from 14th to 24th while Crestdale fell from 46th to 20th. Spending and class size do not track with results here — Charles has the lowest per-student spending ($10,805) and the highest student-teacher ratio (16.8), while Fairview has the highest spending ($13,204) and the smallest ratio (10.4) yet remains a 1-star school.
